  • And I thought Vettel ramming Hamilton during a safety car was as bad as it gets. Straight assault is disgustingly terrible, a father joining in with the assault is unspeakably bad, but throwing a fairly large object at a speeding cart with zero protection is potentially lethal. More likely a serious case of bodily harm but intentionally hospitalizing someone over a racing innocent isn't really acceptable either. I honestly can't imagine any sport getting as bad as this in my lifetime. Forget the life ban, his actions likely have a risk of jail time and frankly I'd support that punishment. I can only hope it wasn't a child he assaulted, but really even that wouldn't shock me from someone like him. Jesus Christ.

  • I get this situation is different but, unfortunately in American motor sports where I race the officials avoid judgment calls and only really take action if somthing is overwhelmingly blatantly wrong. Some people who race you like jackasses and cause collisions wrecking your car just need to be smacked in the head. Trying to retaliate on track is way to dangerous as we play with 1500lb 800hp cars and if the officials won’t step in eventually you gotta stand up for your self. But this guy... fuck this guy.

He has thrown some tantrums in the pit lane in the past, and he was banned from the TCR Europe last year, thanks to a post-race assault in the pit lane. This year, he has beaten everyone in the TCR Eastern Europe series so far... on track, before you ask.

  • IMHO, this is another case of extreme entitlement with a bunch of other immaturity issues. His dad owned the track and the son had more practice laps under his belt than all other racers combined. This created a situation were he couldn't comprehend any failure. The actions of the father caught on film shows that the son may be a victim of very bad parenting to the extent of abuse.

  • Some good rehab for Corberi would be a drive in either Rally or Australian Supercars. Both are hard, rough sports which involve a lot of grit and resilience. Particularly in the Bathurst 1'000 (Today, actually), if you're taken out you don't abuse the other driver/s, you just go into the pits, get fixed up and keep going. Similar for Rally, but you take the damage on the chin. Little too aggressive through a corner and bend your control arm? Get it to the end, that stint won't be your last for the day (unless it's irreparable). Find a stone or tree stump on the road and push your strut tower through your bonnet? Doesn't matter, keep going.

  • No harm, no foul. That's the way you get the best out of your best when they make a bad decision or screw up. But we live in the woke age of "buuuuuuuuuuuut teacher.................. Manny did something naughty! " These comments betray a society of people who are so out for social justice, they don't even realize that's what they are advocated for. Yes, that's where you end up when the criteria for assault drops from "The victim was harmed because of being gripped with fear and/or suffered real physical harm" to "we declare this to be assault even if nobody was harmed because, OMG, he MIGHT do it to ME TOO if we don't punish him!" That's how to enforce securities laws, or white collar crime, or drug dealing. That's not how you should be judging (or writing the law on) social interaction. Because then what you get is a society with no honor, and, ironically, no respect for the individual, and no ability to recognize the value of "self-help".

Ban for all involved in the sport too, ban for his dad getting involved. actually you can see where he gets it from! WTF is wrong with people? That is a father and son assaulting someone, they should not only be banned from motorsports they should be in jail. I'd understand no penalty if things were handled personally (if bitch and bitch father were found on the street and beaten to a pulp) but since there is no information showing us that actually happened I really can't understand why would anyone give them the privilege of doubt here.

    NAVRETNAVRET7 päivää sitten
  • He could always go race stock cars in the USA, they get paid to beat each other up- almost like professional wrestling. The worst I've seen is a guy named Tony Stewart (NASCAR) who raced sprint cars in the off-season and actually killed another driver by trying to spray the man with dirt by peeling out as the man approached his car- and pulled him under the spinning wheel, killing him. There is a FIworld video online. Honestly, a $10k or $20k fine and a year or two ban and this guy should be considered punished- at serve as an example for other hot heads to behave. While dangerous and stupid in his actions, if he had no history of violent behaviour then case closed. If he did it again, lifetime ban from any motorsport. People make mistakes in life, particularly in the heat of the moment. And if we judge too harshly, maybe we will receive the same harshness in our own misgivings. There is such a thing as having mercy, even for the idiots. Sometimes those given a second chance go on to do great things and give back to the community in unexpected ways- but now this guys career is as good as dead. Tony Stewart, on the other hand, should have lost his racing license for life and maybe sent to jail- and lifetime ban to even drive a passenger car in public. But because he was rich and famous, nothing really happened. I'd give this kart racer a nice tough punishment and one more shot as a driver, and ban his father from attending any racing with his son again. People make mistakes. Any more trouble, and be gone forever.
